Our feelings can easily take us further away from the truth Jesus has given each one of us.
It is so easy to get caught up in the nitty-gritty and what is wrong in our lives. It is okay to feel, want things our soul longs for, and be sad at times. At some point, though, these feelings can take over our being and eat away at us telling us we aren’t good enough until we have this or that, it can tell us to be sad because our life isn’t perfect, to be unhappy because something didn’t happen… but we have victory in Christ. We are not what we tell ourselves and what the world tells us in any way. We are children of God. These feelings do not justify who you are, your victory in Jesus does.
When we feel these things we need to start commanding the depth of us all the way down to our soul to look at the cross and really take in what it means.
Jesus died for you and me. There is someone who loves you. No matter what bad you do you are loved.
Look at that cross and truly digest the big picture.
When we see what Christ represents all of a sudden it is harder to linger on feelings when we have been blessed beyond measure by the greatest of all loves and someone who died for each one of our sins.
Mark 8:34 “And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
Deny those feelings that lie. All the lies we tell ourselves. The lingering feelings that do no good after a while, and give it all away to God. Take up your cross and follow Him. Follow the truth He has set out in you and be free from the bondage of your feelings and the what the world says. Follow Jesus and not the feelings that lie to you.
Jesus contains the truth, not your feelings.
