Speaking in Love is Our Duty

In our everyday lives we have definitely said something we wish we could have taken back. This is an example of how important it is that the love of Christ is completely evident in the way we speak.

“You might think you are a very religious person. But if your tongue is out of control, you’re fooling yourself. Your careless talk makes your offerings to God worthless.” James 1:26

We can go to church, worship, read our bible, pray, and do every other religious act, but if our words do not line up with what the gospel teaches our faith is emptiness. If we do not act out on our faith in the way we speak we are not being like Jesus we are being of the world.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

We are not called to speak words of hate, judgement, and negatvity. We are here to speak light into the world. To shine our light to the world through our actions, which includes how we speak, so others may see the light God brings to the world. Be a light that cannot be hidden through your words. Do not be a dark light speaking of hatred because then we become like the world.

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”  Ephesians 4:29

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight.”
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”                                                                                Psalm 19:14

Speak in love, so others may know the love of Christ.
